Snow storm

Today is Sat 13/dec/-6;390
We are leaving our hotel and it is bloody cold out. We don’t get ten minutes out of town and we are going on some pass… DEAD MANS PASS… There are major snow drifts blowing across the highway. It is light and fluffy and looks kind of eerie. On the side of the highway all the big rigs are pulled over chaining up. I really don’t like the sound of DEAD MANS PASS. That totally reminds me of my last motorcycle trip from Calgary through DEAD MANS FLAT.. I almost died of hypothermia. I think it is quite obvious where these places get their names.
The snow is getting thicker now and it is getting harder to see. Rob just told me to make sure I buckled up.. This is not a pretty site, as you can’t see the freaking lines on the highway anymore and you know there is always one idiot out there that thinks he doesn’t have to change his driving habits…just because it is snowing. Hopefully if we get through the pass okay there won’t be snow on the other side. Right now you can’t see too far ahead, and the graders are on the road. We went from light dusty snow storm to a grater in about 10 minutes.
Great…we are descending already but now it looks like there is a traffic jam up ahead. I am trying to take pictures of the snow and the reflection is not allowing it to happen. I remember Sunflower asking someone to take some snow pictures. It isn’t quite day light yet so I will keep trying.
I certainly understand why it would never be possible to ride our bikes to Mexico this time of year. I doubt there is a route that you could by pass snow. One would never survive.
