What a day!! We rode 412 miles of straight Floridad highway. I think there was one curve along the way!!
We waited for MJ, who didn't show after all. So we said our goodbyes to the Motorman and Steffie, she arrived in pink to say goodby. Doc and I were pretty excited, damned excited to be going off to meet some more Women Who Ride. Some we had met before and some we had never met. The good part, we were off on a road trip together, as Thelma and Louies...;) Marianne was waiting for us at Crystal River. She was there right on time.
One of the guys that works there came out to talk to us so of course we got him to take pictures of us. and a little video clip, which you will have to wait till later to see, as they are down loaded on my puter and I am on Doc's.
There was this litttle short old guy that came over and asked if he could have his picture taken with us. He is a fighting cancer. Then the worker, said just a sec please there is some one I want you to meet. he brought a gal out that is 5 years free of Breast Cancer. Quite the way to start out a breast Cancer Ride, I would say. She absolutely loved my BC helmet so we gave her Char's web site so she could order one.
Off we went with Doc doing the leading, when we decided we needed gas, we pulled into a station in the shade, as we realize the pumps were not working. Some biker guy , Chris was his name pulled into see if we were damzelles in distress. He asked where we were headed. Doc says Canada!!! So we told him our story and he was pretty happy for us. No sooner did Isee the smile and I asked him if he would care to donate. Without hesitation, he said sure. Itold him for 20 bucks he would get the first male pink Conga bracelet sold and some patches. He thought that was pretty cool. When he saw the return adress of Ride Like a Pro.. He says... hey, I know those people, they are great, I just saw their show in Leesburg. We of course started to laugh and said, that was us. So he wanted his pic taken with us. Marianne, and I decided we could start selling the pics for the cause.. Hmm. lets see what we can come up with.
Anyway he went off to see some rodeo but I am sure he was tempted to jump in on the Conga.
We stopped for lunch along the way and then Marianne did the leading. It was quite pretty to watch. She is a fantastic riding and she was dipping in and out, so as soon as I saw the blinker go on, I was ready. We were dipping in and out with her before long, and it looked like we were dancing. Many people were giving us the thumbs up.
I had my pink helmet, vest and scarf, boots on, some pink things attacched to the handle bars, it was obvious we were on a mission or just some crazy biker chicks. Motorman made me laugh before we left.. His words as he rolled his eyes were "Obsessive Compulsive" Don't ya know they shoot crazy people in Alabama?"
We were to be meeting up with Patty/HdGanny whom we had never met, Deb/Curves, also never met, and Kaye/Mochrome whom I stayed with in Tennessee last year. I couldn't wait to see her.
We pulled into the first Harley Dealership to make our calls, and ask them for a donation of course. I thought they were the ones on the list but weren't. They gave us a couple tshirts anyway.
We got through to Patty and were to meet them at a gas station, as soon as we all pulled in, you could see the ladies in pink!! There they were, MoChrome...I couldn't wait to park the bike and give her a big hug. Curvs and HdGanny. along with Neil whom is Patty's DH. Policeman I might add.
We hung around a bit as MoChrome would say, We flluffed our butts, and off we went with about 30 miles to go to get to Priss's Sons house.
Hello ladies I finally got on the site, this is Chris Tinter, the biker guy you met at the closed down gas station in Florida, just wanted to say good luck again, be safe and have a great journey, PS: would love to see the pictures you took of us.
